Realtime tracking VFX
Snow Flakes is designed to accurately monitor the positions of 600 individual performers across the field of Beijing National Stadium. The system enables dynamic and location-based visual effects by providing precise tracking data to the rendering engine responsible for generating sparkle VFX under each participant’s feet during live performance.
This real-time tracking program was developed to follow 24 rollerblading athletes performing on a massive LED floor at Beijing National Stadium, using advanced computer vision to transform their movement into a visual storytelling moment. As athletes skated across the LED screen beneath a layer of simulated snow particle effects, their trails dynamically revealed the Olympic motto — “Faster, Higher, Stronger – Together”.
